Men

I see in the fight club the
strongest and smartest men
who've ever lived. I see all
this potential and I see
squandering. God damn it, an entire
generation pumping gas, waiting
tables, slaves with white collars,
advertising has us chasing cars and
clothes, working jobs we hate so we
can buy shit we don't need.
We're the middle children of
the history man, no purpose or
place, we have no Great war, no
Great depression, our great war is
a spiritual war, our great
depression is our lives, we've
been all raised by television to
believe that one day we'd all
be millionaires and movie gods and
rock stars, but we won't and
we're slowly learning that
fact. and we're very very
pissed off.

Women may fall when there's no
strength in men.

There are three things all wise men
fear: the sea in storm, a night
with no moon, and the anger of a
gentle man.

What d'you suppose I care if
I'm a gentleman or not? If I
were a gentleman I shouldn't
waste my time with a vulgar slut
like you.

A lot of men wouldn't like
being called a romantic. It's
not macho enough. Quite often
men are fools.

Most men would rather deny a hard
truth than face it

A small but noteworthy note. I've
seen so many young men over the
years who think they're running at
other young men. They are not. They
are running at me.

A man who wants to die feels angry
and full of life and desperate and
bored and exhausted, all at the
same time; he wants to fight
everyone, and he wants to curl up
in a ball and hide in a cupboard
somewhere. He wants to say sorry to
everyone, and he wants everyone to
know just how badly they've all let
him down.

Most men lead lives of quiet
desperation and go to the grave
with the song still in them.

Women have served all these
centuries as looking-glasses
providing the magic and delicious
power of reflecting the figure of
man as twice its natural size.
